This paper aims to explore the reasons behind the secessionist movement and the possibility of rearranging the borders of Spain to allow for an independent Catalonian state. Based upon my findings, I do not believe that Catalonia will be granted independence from the rest of Spain, although increasing pressure from Catalans will test this thesis over time
