Foraminiferal assemblages from middle Miocene deposits of Bukova glava (Našice) locality

Rad ne sadrži sažetak.Bukova glava BGM5 section is situated in Našicecement quarry, on the northern slopes of Mt. Krndija. This locality was part of Central Paratethys during Miocene. Samples were soaked, treated with hydrogen peroxide and washed over 0,063 mm sieve and micropaleontologically analysed. Microfossil assemblages were studied and benthic foraminifera species were identified. Stratigraphic ranges of autochthonous benthic foraminiferal species indicate Sarmatian age of deposits. Plankton/benthos (P/B) ratio, diversity indices, Benthic Foraminifera Oxygen Index (BFOI), infauna/epifauna ratio and salinity were calculated. Changes in domination of infaunal or epifaunal species and value of BFOI are showing changes in the amount of oxygen and nutrients near the sea floor. On the basis of identified autochthonous benthic foraminifers and their ecology, shallow marine environment with normal salinity is determined
