Increasing regional anesthesia increases the need for sedation in surgery patients. Proper sedation allows for more frequent application of regional anesthetic methods, significantly improves the well-being of patients during surgery. Patients are expected to tolerate regional anesthesia with sedation better than regional anesthesia without sedation. Constantly maintained sedation helps to improve patient well-being if the operation is long or uncomfortable during surgery. Sedation significantly improves patient satisfaction with anesthesia. But sedation is a threat to respiratory and circulatory system complications. Therefore monitoring of vital functions and warning of possible perioperative events during sedation is very important. At the same time, it is necessary to constantly monitor the level of sedation in order to achieve optimal and safest effect for the patient. The purpose of this work is the importance of monitoring the level of consciousness during sedation and the assessment of patient satisfaction.
