Hannah Arendt's concept of power in response to the diagnosis of totalitarian rupture

This thesis is the concept of power in the light of Hannah Arendt totalitarian experience. What we pretend to demonstrate is that you can allocate power totalitarian, based on ideology and without terror, in total situation totally, characterizing to tolitarianism, first, as an event new, second, as a phenomenon of essentially antipolitical nature. Using an inventive and unusual methodology, Arendt traces the "elements" which, although already present in the culture, crystallized totalitarianism, starting a whole process it terrible and terrifying. Elements, Arendt suggests, acquire their proper proportions in modernity: the confusion between public and private, the liquidation of class society, the emergence of the masses, the glorification of work and victory laborans animal. Situations that annihilated any possibility of understanding and explanation of reality in modern-contemporary world. For Arendt, the advent of forced labor and concentration camps that have become obsolete as conceptuais frameworks of our tradition of political-philosophical and Western thought. The disruption to the tradition forced Arendt to revisit the classical Greek and Roman antiquity, whose conditions allowed him to regain power in its pure or legitimate way, distinguishing the phenomena that not only are foreign, as were historically treated by our tradition of political-philosophical thinking, as correlates. At the threshold of our contemporaneity, Arendt, now under a new impetus and looking a little more optimistic in the face of events, sees in the system of councils and movements of struggle and resistance that have erupted all over the globe, the possibility even if slight and fleeting, of a new political structure, whose institutions and features proved all contrary to the modus operandi totalitarian. In this paper, we will have as a guiding principle the introduction of a concept of power different from the one commonly used in the theoretical frameworks of our tradition aims at offering a viable political answer to the total government. In the modern-contemporary context we know that many of the "elements" inherent in its emergence and maintenance are present. It is, therefore, a reflection on what should not have happened and it should be remembered, so as not to happen again.Dissertação (Mestrado)Esta dissertação tem por objetivo pensar o conceito de poder de Hannah Arendt à luz da experiência totalitária. O que pretendemos demonstrar é que Arendt aloca o poder totalitário, fundado na ideologia e no terror, em situação de total oposição ao poder legítimo, caracterizando o totalitarismo, primeiro, como evento todo ele inteiramente novo; segundo, como fenômeno de natureza essencialmente antipolítica. Utilizando-se de uma metodologia inventiva e não usual, Arendt traça os elementos que, embora já presentes na cultura, cristalizaram-se no totalitarismo, dando início a um processo todo ele terrível e terrificante. Tais elementos, indica Arendt, adquirem suas devidas proporções na modernidade: a confusão entre o público e o privado, a liquidação da sociedade de classes, o surgimento das massas, a glorificação do trabalho e vitória do animal laborans; situações que aniquilaram toda e qualquer possibilidade de compreensão e explicação da realidade no mundo moderno-contemporâneo. Para Arendt, o advento dos campos de trabalho forçado e de concentração tornaram em parte obsoletos os quadros conceituais de nossa tradição de pensamento político-filosófico-ocidental. A ruptura com a tradição obrigou Arendt a revisitar a antiguidade clássica grega e romana, cujas condições lhe permitiram recuperar o poder em sua forma pura ou legítima, distinguindo-o de fenômenos que não apenas lhe são estranhos como contrários, embora historicamente tratados como correlatos. No limiar de nossa contemporaneidade, Arendt, agora sob um novo ímpeto e com o olhar um pouco mais otimista frente aos acontecimentos, vê, no sistema de conselhos e nos movimentos de luta e de resistência que eclodiram por todas as partes do globo terrestre, a possibilidade, mesmo que discreta e fugaz, de uma nova estrutura política, cujas instituições e funcionalidades se mostraram todas contrárias ao modus operandi totalitário. Assim, neste trabalho, teremos como fio-condutor a premissa de que a introdução de um conceito de poder diferente daquele comumente utilizado nos quadros teóricos de nossa tradição tem por objetivo oferecer uma resposta política viável ao governo total. No contexto moderno-contemporâneo, sabemos estarem presentes muitos dos elementos inerentes ao seu surgimento e manutenção.
