Shaping of financial standing of football clubs listed on the Stoxx Europe Football Index in years 2007–2011 in depends of obtained sports results

In contemporary world sport is a priceless civilizational, cultural and social value. In developed societies, it is seen as a common good, available in various forms – according to the abilities and interests of citizens. Sport is also a component of the social policy of the modern state, encouraging many sectors of the economy. Analyzing the history of football, it appears that in most cases, football clubs have been established by the local communities in which they play, and so far played a very important role. However, many researchers are of the opinion that the currently functioning football clubs are similar to the typical manufacturing or service enterprises, aimed at generating profit. The main goal of this article is to verify the hypothesis stating that „the financial standing of football clubs listed on the Stoxx Europe Football Index in yeras 2007–2011 is much dependent on the result achieved by the sports”. Hypothesis has been subjected to empirical verification using selected measures of assessing the effectiveness of the company's financial and statistical measures. In the article shown legal recognition of sports clubs, nature of the valuation of their value or characteristics of the entities.
