Reason – faith – revelation. About Stokrótka and Clouds by Juliusz Słowacki

This paper was devoted to two poems by Juliusz Słowacki, written on July 21, 1835 in Switzerland: Stokrótki and Chmury. The subject of the research is a special poetic project by Słowacki, which is visible both in the construction of the poems, as well as in their ideological and philosophical meaning. The poet’s intention suggests that the poems should be read as a coherent piece, created in one day and describing one day. Reading them as an integral whole makes it possible to perceive in the final meaning of the work the spiritual transformation of the hero, the transformation of the man of “land” into the man of “heaven”. One of the methods of interpreting these poems is intertextual reading, including the correspondence of Słowacki with his mother, especially the letter of June 30, 1835, in which the poet shows a poetic intention, presented in the songs he wrote shortly thereafter.
