Propuesta de metodología para elaborar una investigación científica en el área de Administración de Negocios

Scientific research requires the use of the scientific method as an essentialtool to generate knowledge of such nature, It is common that researchersuse the terms method and methodology as indistinctly, this situation causesconfusion in students who begin their research tasks. Therefore, the objectiveof this work is to provide students with elements to identify the differencesbetween the method and the methodology in a scientific research, in orderto facilitate the choice of actions that can better resolve the proposed objectives.To do this, first a bibliographical review of the research process and itscharacterization was carried out, as well as one review for the different researchmethods; Then it was presented the case of a doctoral thesis, which outlinesthe different methods that were used, named the methodological spiral. Itintegrates the methodology of the research as a whole. It is concluded thatthere exists a method that guides the research work and that guides the stepsto follow during the process, which varies from one investigation to another.But, essentially, the steps may be similar because they rely on a central methodthat can be the scientific method as such, or the technological method. Thisresearch process also has different times, therefore it requires different methodsfor its implementation.La investigación científica requiere, para generar conocimientos con esecarácter, la utilización del método científico como una herramienta esencial.Es común que los investigadores utilicen los términos método y metodologíacomo sinónimos, lo que provoca confusión sobre todo en los estudiantes queinician en las tareas de la investigación. Por ello, el propósito de este trabajo esbrindar a los estudiantes elementos para identificar las diferencias entre el métodoy la metodología en una investigación científica con el fin de auxiliar enla elección de las acciones que puedan resolver de mejor manera los objetivospropuestos. Para ello, en primer término se realizó una revisión bibliográficadel proceso de investigación y su caracterización, así como de los diferentesmétodos de la investigación. Luego, se presenta el caso de una tesis doctoral enla que se realiza un esquema de los diferentes métodos utilizados denominadola espiral metodológica, el cual integra en su conjunto la metodología del trabajode investigación. Finalmente, se concluye que existe un método que guía eltrabajo de investigación y que orienta para el establecimiento de los pasos aseguir durante su proceso, el cual varía de una investigación a otra aunque, enesencia, los pasos a seguir pueden ser similares, ya que se basan en un métodocentral que puede ser el método científico como tal o el método tecnológico,este proceso de investigación además tiene diferentes momentos que requierenpor tanto de distintos métodos para su realización
