National audienceFishweirs correspond to a primordial phase of the exploitation of natural resources: the one about shallow aquatic environments. Leaving important remains on the seashore, this universal technique lead to the rising of real archaeological approaches only over the past two decades.Fishweirs have emerged in the pre-agricultural societies of North America and Australia. They are now well attested in Europe, particularly by the corpus of Danish and Irish submerged mesolithic sites. It's very likely that, for these periods, these fishweirs were associated to early forms of social complexity.
