Abstract: This paper evaluates the performance of a Three-phase Asynchronous Generator (TAG) with Dual Stator-Winding (DSW) as a potential candidate for large aircrafts variable frequency AC power generating systems. One of the stator windings is used to provide the necessary Capacitive Excitation (CE) for voltage generation in the second winding (armature). The use of a DSW and CE also permits the generation of voltage at sub-synchronous speeds, not the case in a conventional TAG, which requires voltage build-up at speeds above synchronism.
