The presence of sulphur in fossil fuels contributes uncertainty to predicting their combustion behaviour. Detailed understanding of the combustion chemistry of sulphur species, comprising precise kinetic models, will enable optimisation of important industrial operations, such as Claus process in desulphurisation of hydrocarbons.
