National audienceThis article provides a body of knowledge on the nature of experiential knowledge and to its social modalities of production and legitimization. It shows how every human being is concerned by this experiential knowledge. At the same time, some of this knowledge have real specificities: a typology of experiential knowledge resulting from situations related to disability, chronic illness or health disorders is presented as such. Once this contextualization has been completed, a reflection on the causes of non-recognition of experiential knowledge and a discussion of interests human and social sciences to take them more into account are developed.
