Narrativas de normalistas sobre a matemática no curso normal do Instituto de Educação Assis Brasil (1955-1968)

The present dissertation has been accomplished within the scope of the Post-Graduation Program in Science and Mathematics Teaching of the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel), and it is part of the History of Mathematics Education area. Its main objectives are to produce and analyze historical sources from narratives developed in situations of interviews that deal with the Mathematics formation, on the Teaching Course of Assis Brasil Education Institute, during the period from 1955 to 1968. As specific objectives, this study seeks to investigate Mathematics during the process of training primary teachers in the 1950 and 1960 decades; to analyze teaching practices performed in the formative process, considering the perspective of the teaching students on their effectiveness; to carry out an investigation of the perceptions about the relations on Mathematics learning-teaching methods; and to investigate about the relations between theory and practice in the same period. We performed with Oral History and documentary analysis as theoretical-methodological perspectives, from which four interviews were conducted with ex-teaching students from the Institute. The interviews have indicated two periods on the Mathematics teacher training: the first one during the 50 decade; and the other one in the 60 decade. In the first period, Mathematics and Didactics subjects are so closely related, to the point of being impossible to separate them. However, during the second period, a very clear difference can be noticed between the two subjects, being prominent elements on the Didatics of Mathematics, which was considered one of the most important subjects by the ex-teaching students.Esta dissertação foi realizada no âmbito do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ensino de Ciências e Matemática da Universidade Federal de Pelotas (UFPel) e insere-se na área de História da Educação Matemática. Tem por objetivo geral, produzir e analisar fontes históricas a partir de narrativas desenvolvidas em situações de entrevistas que versaram sobre a formação matemática, no Curso Normal do Instituto de Educação Assis Brasil, no período de 1955 a 1968. Como objetivos específicos estão investigar a Matemática no processo de formação dos professores primários nas décadas de 50 e 60, analisar as práticas de ensino trabalhadas no processo formativo, considerando a perspectiva das normalistas sobre sua eficácia, realizar a apuração das percepções sobre as relações entre métodos de aprendizagem de ensino da Matemática, e, por fim, sobre as relações entre a teoria e prática no período. Trabalhou-se com a História Oral e análise documental como perspectivas teórico-metodológicas, a partir da qual se realizou quatro entrevistas com ex-normalistas do Instituto. As entrevistas indicaram em relação à proposta de formação matemática no Curso Normal dois períodos diferentes, o primeiro período na década de 50 e o segundo período na década de 60. No primeiro período, as disciplinas de Matemática e Didática da Matemática estão muito relacionadas, a ponto de haver contradições sobre a existência delas como disciplinas distintas. Entretanto, já no segundo período foi apresentado muito claramente a diferença entre as duas disciplinas, recordando elementos mais destacados sobre a Didática da Matemática que foi uma das disciplinas mais importantes para as ex-normalistas
