It was later introduced to China. The number of strings a Taishō Koto ranges from 4 to 6. Keys are inscribed with numbers to represent pitches. A player presses the keys with his left hand, while his right hand plucks the strings with a pick. The Taishō Koto in the Rulan Chao Pian Collection has 5 strings and 23 keys.
