The mol\-ecule is nearly planar as indicated by the dihedral angle of 3.11(6)\circ between the benzodioxole and benzene rings. The carbonyl group lies in the plane of the olefinic double bond and the benzodioxole ring. The \it trans conformation of the C=C double bond in the central enone group is confirmed by the C=C—-C—-C torsion angle of -177.82(14)\circ
