Faculty of Science.The Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect occurs when urban areas have higher surface/ air temperature differences relative to surrounding rural reference areas. Most of the studies carried out in past are limited to a certain time in a year or a day, and lack a long term analysis. Moreover, the research potential of satellites and its modern tools remain largely untapped.
