Microlépidoptères méconnus : plus de 750 espèces en danger en France. Plaidoyer pour une recherche fondamentale négligée (Insecta, Lepidoptera)

Unrecognized Microlepidoptera : more than 750 species endangered in France. Defence plea for a neglected basic research (Insecta, Lepidoptera). The biology and early stages of french Microlepido¬ ptera remain unknown for at least 770 species (22.5 % of the described taxa). Thus, the protection of this fauna and natural biotas is very difficult to acheive correctly, because of the lack of fundamental researches concerning the biology of these insects. The cases of the Pterophoridae and Coleophoridae are exemplary and demonstrate that this scope can be reached rapidly. Recent works have lead to the discovery of the biology of 94 % of the Pterophoridae and 90 % of the Coleophoridae, against 96 % of the french 'Rhopalocera'. Searchers in this field overall need the possibility to collect material everywhere and all over the year. The creation of local centers of study of the diversity should be done, with the two scopes of fundamental researches and to advise the administrations working in conservation policy. Amator and professional searchers working in the study of insect biology and chorology should have the possibility of permanent collects, in reserves, regional and national parks, in order to acheive correctly their researches.Les auteurs signalent que la biologie et les premiers états d'au moins 770 espèces de Microlépidoptères français (22,5% des espèces décrites) demeurent inconnus. Dans ces conditions, la protection des espèces comme la gestion des espaces naturels les abritant peut s'avérer très difficile. Un travail fondamental de recherche sur la biologie des espèces reste à accomplir. Des résultats significatifs ont déjà été obtenus chez les Pterophoridae et les Coleophoridae de France pour lesquels la biologie a été vérifiée ou découverte pour respectivement 94% et 90% des espèces (96% chez les "Rhopalocères" ou "Papillons du jour"). Cette recherche fondamentale et de longue haleine nécessite une grande liberté de mouvements, en tous lieux et en toutes saisons. Un double appel est donc lancé : -vers les Ministères de la Recherche et de l'Environnement pour la création de conservatoires-observatoires de la biodiversité locaux employant des experts-naturalistes ayant une vocation de recherche (taxinomie. biologie, écologie, etc.) et un rôle de conseiller auprès des gestionnaires ; -vers les directions de Parcs et Réserves naturelles, et administrations locales, pour la délivrance d'autorisations permanentes de prélèvements pour les amateurs et les professionnels travaillant dans l'étude des relations plantes-hôtes -insectes, garantissant la mobilité nécessaire à ces études.Nel Jacques, Nel André.
