Man and biodiversity. The example of the Forest of Fontainebleau. Conservation measures of natural reserves aim generally to control human activities. The designation of Fontainebleau as a Biosphere Reserve, one of the most visited forests in France, offers an opportunity to develop a methodology to assess human effects on insect biodiversity, through bio-indicators. Two types of habitat have been selected owing to dramatic reductions in these specific areas : wild forest and open lands. Data obtained by trapping during the summer shows the richness of the most of these visited site in the forest, the gorge of Franchard, in comparison with other undisturbed surrounding woodlands.
