Les Dyscolus de la zone périglaciaire des Andes équatoriennes (Coleoptera, Harpalidae, Platyninae)

Abstract

The genus Dyscolus in the periglacial zone of the Andes of Ecuador. This paper presents a taxonomical review of 18 Dyscolus species, 17 of which inhabit the superpáramo belt in the periglacial zone of the Ecuadorian Andes. Seven species are described as new : D. fronto n. sp., D. lacertosus n. sp., D. montivagus n. sp., D. palatus n. sp., D. thecarum n. sp., D. verecundus n. sp. and D. whymperi n. sp. The available biogeographic data are then summarized and discussed. The disjunct distribution of the species since the last glaciation has not led to local speciations, despite a possible exception in the case of D. oreas (Bates).
