The readership for chicano, puerto rican, and cuban-american creative literature in the united states. Commercial publishing and independent publishing are contrasted and U.S. Hispanic literature is situated as a special concern of independent publishing, which in turn has primary responsibility for the formation of the literary canon and for keeping canonical books in print. The developing relationship between U.S. Hispanic authors, supported by independent publishers, and large conglomerates of books, film and video is then further explored ; it would appear, according to the latest trend, that Hispanic books are entering the conglomerated, commercial market in increasing numbers.L'article souligne la différence entre l'édition commerciale relevant des conglomérats et les éditeurs indépendants.
