EnA hypothesis concerning the type of dispersal among Mediterranean lagoons is discussed. Polychaetes of Acquatina lake (Lecce, Italy) were studied as an example, to individuate life-cycles and length of larval phases. Faunistical exchange between the lake and the sea seems to be absent, so that larval phases should not be responsible for dispersal of brakish-water Polychaete species. Other mechanism such as resting stages are probably involved in dispersal
