Social scientists have relatively neglected in studying positive social behaviors, for example prosocial behaviorsamong children and adolescents. However, there is much to gain from an understanding of prosocial behaviors. Thepresent paper reviews some conceptual and methodological issues which are mostly based on theoretical models developed onNorth-American samples and research on prosocial development recently developed in Brazil.
