Objective: To analyze the presence of risk factors for premature birth in women from a state seminal Maternity Hospital. Methods: The research is a descriptive exploratory field study within a quantitative approach. It was developed in a state seminal Maternity Hospital located in the city of Teresina, PI. It had as research participants 57 women who had their premature births between the months of April and May in 2014. The data collection took place after approval by the local Ethics in Research Committee, with information obtained through interviews with mothers, besides the records evaluation on their deliveries, contained in their medical records.
