In the 1880\u27s, concentrated largely in Buenos Aires, the formation of a modern editorial market became evident for the first time. The details of this development were registered in the Anuario Bibliográfico de la República Argentina (1880-1888). The article, based upon data found in this extraordinary record of the contemporaneous literate culture, analyses the composition and transformations of the incipient editorial field and its production.
