Métodos de alfabetização, métodos de ensino e conteúdos da alfabetização: perspectivas históricas e desafios atuais

The discussion about methods is recurrent in Pedagogy of literacy, and discuss it again means to think about the own schooling of the contents of the language. Its opacity and transparency as a theme, in some moments, may be described by the way the methods’ issue is taken: sometimes as a central question, others as a secondary problem; sometimes as something to be denied and, surprisingly, due to its reappearance in contemporary polemics, as a “solution” to the problems of literacy in many countries. Taking into account the researches about the history of literacy, as well as some practices revealed in books and manuals to the beginning of its process, this article aims at recovering the place of the methods of literacy from a historical and current point of view. The basis to this study considers that when methods are not in evidence in the theoretical field and in the field of politics, the forms of materializing new theories and challenges in actions are part of the nature of Pedagogy. To reflect about the different ways of intervention/methods and methodologies allows us to learn some lessons. Aiming at recovering principles, solutions and problems that methods present, this text is organized around the following objectives: a) to discuss the literacy methods, its specificity and contents; b) to present the interferences and connections produced based on general teaching methods; c) to reflect about the manipulation of the contents of literacy and its relation with new methodologies.A discussão sobre métodos é recorrente na Pedagogia da alfabetização e retomálos significa pensar a própria escolarização dos conteúdos da língua. A sua opacidade e transparência como tema, em alguns momentos, pode ser descrita pela forma com que estes são focalizados: ora como uma questão central, ora como problemática secundária, ora como algo a ser negado e, de forma surpreendente, pelo seu ressurgimento nas polêmicas contemporâneas como “solução” para os roblemas da alfabetização, em vários países. Tomando como pressupostos pesquisas sobre a história da alfabetização, dados de algumas práticas reveladas em livros e manuais para o ensino inicial da escrita e por professores, este artigo pretende recuperar o lugar dos métodos de alfabetização, de um ponto de vista histórico e atual. Parte-se do pressuposto de que mesmo quando os métodos não estão em evidência no campo teórico e no campo das políticas, as formas de materializar novas teorias e desafios em ações fazem parte da natureza da pedagogia. Refletir sobre diferentes formas de intervenção/métodos e metodologias nos possibilita aprender algumas lições. No sentido de recuperar princípios, soluções e problemas que os métodos carregam, esse texto se organiza em torno dos seguintes objetivos: a) discutir os métodos de alfabetização, suas especificidades e os conteúdos que contemplam; b) apresentar as interferências e complementações produzidas a partir de métodos gerais de ensino; c) refletir sobre a ampliação dos conteúdos da alfabetização e sua relação com novas metodologias.
