This paper’s objective is to understand how deaf children interact in Childhood Education. The methodology was based on field observation of a group of young children being taught in a Sao Paulo Public School that specializes in the education of deaf people. Interviews were also carried-out with the teacher of the observed class and the school coordinator. As in other datacollection procedures, we analyzed the school’s pedagogical-political project and conducted a guided activity with the children. Results revealed that interactions among deaf children occur naturally, since these children share the same language (sign language) and culture.
