This presentation, provided by the project Using Remote Technology in Real-Time to Enhance Nanotechnology and Training at Oakton Community College, describes the field of additive manufacturing.  Additive manufacturing is the build up of "successive layers" to achieve a final shape, where as the more traditional subtractive manufacturing uses component parts cut from larger pieces of materials to create the final shape.  The presentation describes the uses of additive manufacturing, its advantages, and the tools and processes used to perform additive manufacturing.  Additionally, the presentation also provides the economic opportunities available through the use of additive manufacturing.Â
