Introduction to Topographical Maps

From Foothill College and the Using a Web-Based GIS to Teach Problem-Based Science in High School and College project, this module introduces students to topographic maps. The exercise provides a definition of topographic maps and rules for understanding them. The second half of the exercise asks students general questions on topographic maps and specific questions on the Montara Mountain Quadrangle. This is a helpful resource for the introductory GIS classroom
