The Advanced Technology Environmental and Energy Center (ATEEC) provides this classroom activity on biodiesel. Students will use vegetable fuel to create an alternative to diesel fuel through the transesterification of methyl-esters from triglycerides. The experiment involves using some chemicals which may be considered extremely dangerous; educators should be sure to practice laboratory safety when using this lesson.Users must download this resource for viewing, which requires a free log-in.
