Traditional Cloth Hanger Doll Series IV. Box 4 11” high 4½” wide 1990 Multinational mixed medium, cloth and wire This doll is a traditional stereotypical island doll. The doll is of dark skin and wears bright color island clothes. Doll hangers were often used to put herbs inside of them to protect spirits and be used in religious ceremonies that relate to the Voodoo culture. These customs came from Africa so the clothes that are worn represent what a woman in Africa may also wear.
