Possible authors and texts: Native American poetry and tales, Cabeza de Vaca, Mary Rowlandson, Sor Juana, Benjamin Franklin, William Apess, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Edgar Allan Poe, Frederick Douglass, Emily Dickinson, and Walt Whitman.
