Goals: To introduce students to conceptual frameworks of critical media studies; to create savvy media consumers by teaching them to understand forces behind media institutions that influence the ways they create messages; to learn to construct and express oral arguments pertaining to media issues more effectively and more academically. Content: New media and old media, media theory, communications infrastructure, media ownership, media impact, media policy and law, media ethics. Taught: Annually. Prerequisites: None.
