This article describes the catchment of water by means of deep radial wells, to improve the water supply of Malaga. The project is located on the left bank of the Guadalhorce river, and takes advantage of the groundwater level in the river zone, as well as a second water layer, 60 m below the surface. The Ranney system was adopted, with horizontal drains and deep wells, consisting of two reinforced concrete boxes of differing diameter and length. The external box collects the water from the upper water layer, and the inner one collects the deep water.
