During the process of building an outdoor learning structure curiosity grew about how students would respond to learning outdoors. This is a six week action research study on 23 first graders in an outdoor classroom. Students self identified one of Gardner\u27s Eight Intelligences prior to study. Anecdotal notes were taken as well as individual student interviews. As a result of completing this study it become obvious that students respond well to an outdoor learning experience. Students retain more, are more enthusiastic, and have fewer behavior problems when learning outdoors. Their natural curiosity grows when in the outdoor classroom
