Utilizing student learning strengths to enhance student learning and achievement

The research question addressed is, what is the importance of finding and utilizing students\u27 strengths, especially in the primary grades, for both the students and the teacher? The motivating factor for this capstone was the belief that each child should be able to learn in the way best for him or her, despite the fact that those ways may be different from child to child. This capstone details the ways to go about finding student strengths and help them find their own strengths in the classroom. Key influence for this capstone was Jenifer Fox, M.Ed., author of Your Child\u27s Strengths: Discover Them, Develop Them, Use Them. Her philosophy is that children should find their own strengths. Unfortunately, students at the primary age level are developmentally unable to find their own strengths, so the teacher must act as a guide on each child\u27s strengths journey. When students\u27 strengths are utilized they are more motivated to put forth their best effort at school
