The research question addressed in this project was, how can middle school advanced reading students use multiple lenses to deepen their critical literacy skills? It documents a novel unit in which critical literacy elements are explored through the vehicle of social justice issues. Students explored the issues of identity, culture, and multiple perspectives using journals and whole-class discussion.
