The question addressed in this capstone was, In what ways does mandated testing drive a schools approach to teaching 9 - 12 grades students? It looked at how teachers believed that mandated tests had changed the curriculum and instructional strategies as well as how and why the administration made decisions on the curriculum. The author surveyed teachers and interviewed the administration to compare results to the positions of experts in literature. Key influences in the writing of this capstone were other teachers because in professional meetings people would talk about the tests and what needed to be done to raise students test scores.
