The research question addressed was, Why is there a need for mental health help for minorities in the United States and how do we help minority students in poverty access mental health services locally? The first part of this capstone focuses on why there is a need minorities in the United States to receive mental health help. The author shows, through research, that minorities are not getting adequate and equal mental health help to others in the United States. Some reasons for the lack of mental health help are: poverty, lack of insurance, social structure, stigmatization, and cultural issues.
