Abstrak. Telah dilakukan penelitian mengenai pemanfaatan limbah cangkang udang menjadi kitin sebagai media pertumbuhan bakteri kitinolitik melalui perlakuan kimia dan perlakuan fisik. Perlakuan fisik yang diberikan terhadap limbah cangkang udang meliputi pemanasan menggunakan microwave, penyangraian, pemanasan menggunakan oven, serta pemanasan dibawah sinar matahari. Serbuk cangkang udang yang telah diberikan perlakuan fisik maupun kimia menunjukkan hasil yang berbeda. Hasil analisis menggunakan surface area analyzer menunjukkan bahwa serbuk cangkang udang dengan perlakuan kimia dan microwave mempunyai ukuran pori yaitu 18,44 Å dan 117,8 Å.
