Using a school garden to deliver a middle school curriculum

The purpose of this research is to examine how schools can use school gardens as tools in delivering a standards-based middle school curriculum. The research examines the history of school gardens, and overviews the definitions and intentions of constructivist philosophy, project-based learning and curriculum integration as the foundational reasons for using school gardens. Four school sites in Minnesota using school gardens in 2011 were chosen for observation and interviews with staff.
