Culturally responsive teaching in kindergarten is the focus of this capstone. The topic of this paper stems from the growing attention being paid to the racial achievement gap that exists between white students and students of color in our nation. Research verifying the existence of this gap is highlighted throughout the document. Studies on culturally responsive teaching practices are also included. A curriculum is created incorporating research on culturally responsive teaching as well as the developmental needs of the kindergarten student
