Why aren\u27t some students responsive to responsive classroom?

Responsive Classroom is an approach in education designed to develop student\u27s academic and social learning in a classroom community that uses ten teaching practices. The practices should create a classroom that is comfortable for all students to learn. However, some students have shown behaviors that do not align with the desired outcomes of Responsive Classroom in one particular third grade classroom. The purpose of this study was to find out why those students were not responsive through a mixed methods design that involved student and teacher surveys and a daily observation log. The study concluded that many students need structure and clear expectations. The implications of this study proves that teachers need to strive to find ways to provide more structure in the school day for all students, and keep researching ways to better meet the social needs of students
