Anne Pringle was born in Providence, Rhode Island on April 19, 1947, and grew up in a suburb of Providence called Barrington. She graduated from Connecticut College for Women in 1969 with a major in Government and an emphasis on American History. She married Harry Pringle, and they moved to Boston, where she worked for the Bank of Boston. In 1973 they moved to Maine and Anne became Treasurer of the Maine State Housing Authority from 1973 to 1977. She then worked for the Maine Savings Bank, where she became a vice president, and was active in city politics.
