Nancy Connolly was born on February 8, 1948 in Marstown, New Jersey. She attended the University of Maine at Orono for two years and the University of Southern Maine for two years. She was active with Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and worked for Model Cities in Portland on the Crime and Juvenile Delinquency Task Force. After college graduation, she worked for St. Elizabeth’s Child Care Program, then with Head Start. She married Larry Connolly in the early 1970s, who worked for Model Cities and later was a state legislator for 16 years, beginning in 1972.
