The ADHD Parent

ADHD is not just a condition associated with childhood – it is also a condition found in adults, including parents. Parents who have this condition may present several types of child welfare issues including difficulty in providing consistent care including supervision, discipline, maintaining healthy relationships, structure, and nurturing behaviors that may be at least in part attributed to their own ADHD management needs. This may present service planning difficulties if the ADHD is not recognized or taken into account. This presentation focuses on the identification and diagnosis of ADHD in adults, the different manifestations of ADHD in adults, and the impact that diagnosed or undiagnosed parental ADHD may have on the their children and their parenting
