METODE PHONIK TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA PERMULAAN ANAK TUNAGRAHITA RINGAN KELAS III DI SEKOLAH LUAR BIASA

AbstractReading is one of important aspects in the daily life because people can get information and knowledge in learning through reading. It will cause them be able to interact with environment around him. Unfortunately, mental retarded children will get difficulties to master reading skill for beginners. It is caused by their low IQ. Phonic Method is used successfully in the reading process. This research aims to solve the problem faced by the mental retarded children’s reading skill for beginners at third grade of Dharma Wanita inclusive school Kebonsari by using Phonic Method. Therefore, there is an improvement in their reading skill for beginners.This research is quantitative pre experiment research by using one group pretest posttest design. The data collecting method is test. Nonparametic statistics is used to analyze the data. There are 6 mental retarded children as the research subjects. The average score of pretest which is conducted only once is 48,2. The subjects are given action 10 times and it increases their average score. Their final average score is 72,2.The data is analyzed by using sign test which is completed with Z table 5% and two sides test 1,96. The result of Zh is 2,04. Therefore it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of phonic method for the low mental retarded children’s reading skill for beginners of the third grade at Dharma Wanita Inclusive school Kebonsari Madiun.Keywords : Phonic Method, Reading Skill For Beginners, Low Mental Retarded Children
