This paper is intented to draw attention to a fact thus far seldom dealt with, i.e. the unsual readings of Erasmus' De libero arbitrio made by sorne ofhis ltalian contemporaries. Firstly, it is shown that Erasmus wrote his De libero arbitrio as an anti-Lutheran work and, secondly, that the general reaction in ltaly was to ignore it or to interpret it as pro-Lutheran. Thus we pay attention to sorne important ltalian names, including the Spanish and Spanish and ltalian-educated Juan Ginés de Sepúlveda, who saw Erasmus' work as an anti-Lutheran document, grasped the meaning of it and therefore made an interpretation that could be considered out ofthe ordinary.El presente trabajo es una llamada de atención sobre un hecho que a menudo ha sido de...
