Los itinerarios culturales. Características y tipos. Principales experiencias nacionales e internacionales

At an international leve!, cultural routes or itineraries constitute at the present time one of the most popular ways of experiencing our cultural heritage and fulfill the aspirations of many cultural institutions. The result of this phenomenon has been an uncritical and chaotic profusion of routes and itineraries, which has in turn led to great confusion as to what the essential characteristics of such routes should be, if they are to provide genuinely cultural experiences. The present research paper aims to clarify this confusion and to establish, by means of a careful analysis of these characteristics, the different types of cultural itineraries available world-wide.Los itinerarios culturales constituyen en el momento presente uno de los ámbitos patrimoniales de mayor vigor y promoción a nivel internacional, ya que recogen gran parte de las aspiraciones patrimoniales actuales, lo cual ha redundado en una incontrolada proliferación de rutas e itinerarios que han provocado una enorme confusión en cuanto a las características y fundamentos que deben disponer para considerarlos como ámbitos patrimoniales. A través de esta investigación pretendemos clarificar en parte esta confusión mediante un análisis de dichos fundamentos y, sobre todo, de la identificación de los tipos de itinerarios culturales existentes a nivel mundial
