Corporal Punishment by Parents

This study aimed to measure whether or not the use of Corporal Punishment has an effect on children in the future. This research was conducted in order to answer questions and find out: if young parents think differently on child corporal punishment than adult parents and whether or not if citizens with children will have different opinions of child corporal punishment than citizens without children. In addition to that, the propose was to find out if religion and ethnicity have different views on corporal punishment. This study was completed using a quantitative research methodology with a focus on gaining statistical data, as well as simple convenience sampling, to measure the parent\u27s perception on the use of corporal punishment. One hundred participants took part in a convenience sampling. Each participant was provided with a survey of multiple responses, in which they had to respond with multiple responses on the use of corporal punishment and different forms of punishments. The independent variables were as follows: age, gender, religion, race and kids. The dependent variables were consisted of questionnaires regarding corporal punishment. After analyzing the data collected from surveys, for some parents corporal punishment is the only method of discipline. The study indicates that, parents use corporal punishment on their children because of misbehaving. The independent variable of race and religion was able to reject the null hypothesis because of the significant statistical differences in relationship with corporal punishment. The other independent variables could not reject the null hypothesis because there were not significant statistical differences
