This study examined the relationship between faculty perception of their role in increasing student retention and actual interaction with students at Tennessee State University. The primary purpose of this study was to determine if undergraduate faculty perception of their role in increasing student success and retention is related to their actual level of interaction with students outside of the regular classroom setting. In addition, faculty interaction with students was examined based on gender, age, ethnicity, marital status, institutional origin, rank, faculty appointment, and status.
