This short paper is to review the relationship between Project Adventure (PA) and Cooperative Learning (CL). Both are effective pedagogies for fostering children’s self-directed learning. Promoting children’s self-directed learning is a critical issue of newly revised the course of study 2017. How PA and CL work to develop children’s self-directed learning is investigated. Between PA and CL, there are identified several common elements for desired learning outcomes, such as setting a mutual goal among the team members, respecting their choice and challenge to achieve the goal, processing their collaboration, and reflecting successful experiences for their learning and further progress.
